She should not have done it. She knew she should not have done it. Her every instinct told her that she should not have done it. And yet she had done it. The temptation to do it was too strong. It was not that she was weak. Quite the opposite: ambition and the desire to succeed; to be the very, very, best; better than anybody and everybody else. That was what drove her. There had been an overwhelming urge to prove herself since she was small, and her father had said she would never make anything of herself.
