The inner cabinet sat in silence, not even drinking coffee or eating biscuits. Georgie Ellis felt sorry for them as she looked through the glass partition that separated the outer work rooms from DCI May’s ‘place’. She smiled to herself. ‘May’s place’ sounds more like a coffee shop or a cocktail bar than a senior detective’s office. But I want to be in there one day. Whatever my father says, this is the career for me!
The WPC looked into the inner office again, half hoping that the three detectives would invite her to observe. She had so enjoyed being part of that team – part of any team, for that matter.
