The inner cabinet sat in silence, not even drinking coffee or eating biscuits. Georgie Ellis felt sorry for them as she looked through the glass partition that separated the outer work rooms from DCI May’s ‘place’. She smiled to herself. ‘May’s place’ sounds more like a coffee shop or a cocktail bar than a senior detective’s office. But I want to be in there one day.
