Wright wouldn’t stop talking. May had rarely come across someone as garrulous as this. Periodically, Wright’s mother told him to stop so that she could say something, but he soon got back into his stride.

Just occasionally, May and his Detective Sergeant looked at each other as they interviewed Gordon Wright and his mother in the lounge at High Windows. Perhaps they could go for a drink at the local after this. Charlie would still be organising the door-to-door so they would have some time on their own together.
