Afar

I’ve observed you from afar 
Searching for the courage to ask who you are 
I’m nervous of what you might say or think 
What if you don’t feel the same as me 

This courage I am yet to find 
I’ve tried but changed my mind 
I steal a glance now and then
Then you move and my gaze ends 

I watch you walk away 
And hope to find the strength another day 
To just walk up and say, “hey”
