Chapter Thirty-One - The Pact of Four

The strident beeping sound of the Electrocardiogram drowned out the cacophony of frantic voices and barked commands. It had been several minutes now and none of their efforts to bring little Berkleigh Harefield back from the great beyond had worked. She was gone - everyone in the operating room had come to grips with that fact, everyone with the exception of Dr. Doyle Grimaldi. 

“Get another dose of adrenaline ready! I’ll shock her with the pads then we dose her again!” Grimaldi boomed, his trembling hands closing around the pads. His eyes burned through tears as he placed the pads on the little girl’s chest.
