Underbrink had been tracking Van Nostrand’s movements since he returned to his God-forsaken mansion with Berkleigh and The Contessa. The only thing that might have been racing faster than his elevated heartbeat was his frantic mind. 

From what he could see, everyone had been bound in place - everyone he could count as an ally that is. So no backup - one mistake, one miscalculation and the old bastard would end him once and for all.
