Chapter Nine - Beneath the Surface

A twisted ankle would never be considered a fortunate occurrence, but in the case of Janelle Townsend, the injury was a gift from above. She stumbled into the tunnel that she hoped would provide a respite from the bandaged woman who kidnapped her, the one pursuing her this very instant. Janelle struggled to her feet, the compromised ankle buckling as she did. Exhausted, unable to stand on one good leg, she careened into the side of the tunnel, a metallic clang greeting her frenzied senses. The side gave way, spilling her into total darkness. 

Despite the bad landing, Janelle had enough foresight to realize she needed to lean into this unexpected sequence of events. She made it to her feet, managing to close the open...
