“It could happen any day now…”

The phrase my wife and I kept hearing from her OBGYN. During her visits those last several weeks, it was like our adopted mantra. The closer we moved towards her due date, the more we realized this baby was in NO hurry at all. Already the complete opposite of our oldest, who had decided to show up over two weeks early.

So, we waited; day after day, wondering when this little one was going to arrive. Looking back, it was good to have extra time to prepare ourselves. It also gave me some special time to say good-bye to what was left of the jet-black hair upon my head. You know, the ones my oldest had yet to conquer. I was sure the new baby would stake his or her claim to the remainder soon after arriving.
