Later that same September was my wife’s birthday. And we finally reached that stage, as first-time parents, where our child was old enough to have his first sleepover. I wrote that last sentence making it seem like the milestone was more for my wife and me. And you bet your ass it was. This meant we could go somewhere, just the two of us, for the first time since our son was born and spend a night away. See? It WAS our milestone.

Still, our little guy was not two years old yet and my wife was in her third trimester. So, we couldn’t travel too far. But hey, when you are parents, even a trip to the grocery store sans your tiny terrors can feel like a vacation in Bora Bora. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating. Or just maybe, I’ve been banned from the local Wal-Mart for drinking a beer...
