“We wouldn’t leave without you,” smiled Sarah.

     So far, so good, Cecily thought.  But, her brothers, or one of them, was coming, and she’d see the rest of them at the hospital.  What would they think of her being back, of coming home?  Would they be mad, or glad, or just plain not speak to her?  Cecily was scared, nervous, very scared, very nervous.  She longed to feel her mother’s arms around her, holding her close, telling her how much she missed her, and telling her how happy she was her oldest child was home again.  Sarah hadn’t even done that, at least, not yet.  Maybe none of them ever would.  But, Sarah’s smiles seemed to almost say the same thin, that she was glad...
