     Then, all of a sudden, something broke in Isaac, his shoulders shook and he began sobbing, heaving.  He tried to talk, but couldn’t get the words out.  All that came out was cries, almost howls, of intense pain and more intense regret.  All Ida could do was hold him tightly in her comforting arms and whisper soothing words to him, while her own misbehaving tears fell onto his jacket.
