It was Peta. There was a throng of people behind her. I walked up to her smiling – and then gasped.

 

'You bloody bastard! Where have you been?'

 

Bardrick ran into me, knocking me to the floor, laughing. 'Good to see you too', I muttered. 'Gerroff!'

 

Still laughing, he helped me to my feet. He looked a bit older, a lot less hair, but the smile was still there and the eyes still young. 'Who else did you bring?'
