Our first trip to Costa Rica was also our first zip-lining experience ever. Ten lines through tall trees, the first line sailing directly over a waterfall. It was magical. Each subsequent trip back, we tested different zip-line locations.

Thus far, the most exhilarating experience was in Monteverde. Harnessed into a sitting position, our hands clutched a short metal rod attached to the cable. When tilted from side to side, it helped slow you down, so not to crash into the platform.

Set between two mountains, the lines ran through clouds and wind tunnels. He zipped off first, disappearing into the mist. Next, off into the clouds I went, visibility zero. Midway, the clouds dispersed, and a vast forest below emerged. I felt I was flying.
