daily observations from a sidewalk café

she prays for a better way,

a brighter sunrise every tomorrow;

pours every drop of everything she has

to give to keep it all held together,

to maintain that image of composure

when it seems a million eyes are constantly glued

like her suffering is just another daily soap opera

they landed upon while surfing channels,

their concern insincere just adding to the pile

mounting of stress, mess, and bills

she gives her everything to just scrape by

and it seems no one ever notices, appreciates

the million microscopic details she committed to her memory

solely to pleasing the ones she loves.
