Jack Montgomery is a freelance investigator for the CDC's Global Health Center, and soon stumbles upon a medical mystery that threatens to change everything he thought he knew about the world--and might change everything he thought he knew about himself.  As the pieces of a world-wide conspiracy fall into place, Jack awakens a sleeping giant that could crush him without a thought.  One that has now turned its attention to him.

The machineries of government grind slowly, and one man with nothing left to lose just might have a chance.  A chance to free the sleepers.

Sera Storme

Now Sera must track down and defeat Xane Mori, a dangerous psychic from Mars, in the Sol system, while keeping eight-year-old Lani safe from the Trillium soldiers hunting them. Her only ally is the icy Sabian Delain. Sera’s mission will force her to confront her past, and to find a way to forge a bond with the daughter she left behind.

Crossing the Streams

Non-human romance. Tarot-powered difference engines. The bureaucracy of the gate to Hell. These and more appear in this anthology of strange stories by Jeremy Zimmerman. This anthology collects five genre-bending tales from fantasy to steampunk to cyberpunk.

“I won’t spoil the ending, but I will offer that the imagery in this tale is so wonderful that the settings sometimes transported me away from the main character’s conflict. The scenes in this story, like Impressionist art, consist of ordinary subjects displayed in mesmerizingly vacillating light. Whereas I usually care most about plot and about character development, these descriptions were so robust that I would gladly read additional pages of Zimmerman’s work just to reimmerse myself in his language.”
– KJ Hannah Greenberg, Tangent, regarding “A Crazy Kind of Love”

“Unchained Melody is a sharp, beautiful blow to the heart. Zimmerman wrote a heroine who is recognizable; a woman who is defining herself, on her terms.”
– Lillian Cohen-Moore, author of The Imperial Companion, and Hatavat Chalom

Machinery of Man

Explore this exciting new story by the author of The Everything Factor (2014)

Everything we've known is wrong! Prepare for a truth that will shake humanity to its core!

Machinery of Man follows Doug Vasiter's visit to the hamlet of Bandigan Bay as he oversees the production of a new Denathynol plant. Denathynol is a revolutionary new fuel source mixing minimal amounts of oil with natural materials found in the soils surrounding meteor impact zones.

Though the project can provide much needed employment to Bandigan Bay residents, while also serving as the first step in extending mankind's warranty on Earth amid our impending energy crisis, there also exists a sect of people aggressively  and strangely opposed to any new development.

A series of seemingly odd, "abort" messages across modern day technological devices, peculiar acts of vandalism and mysteriously cold, detached people all culminate in a mind bending truth.

Everything that people have regarded as facts about who and what we are as a species, where we come from, and the evolution of life itself, will be completely rewritten.

The truth will either set everyone free, or destroy everything in the process.

One man's passionate project, designed to be socially and environmentally responsible, will end up being the very thing that the fate of our entire universe rest upon.

Wings of Silver and Blood

After a thousand years of protecting the last of humanity, the City of Gabriel is dying. When it goes, the domed city will either be the womb that gives birth to the next step in human evolution, or it will become the largest tomb on Earth. Below the city, inside a vast warren of caves, Elliott Dawning awakens to find that the last three years of his life have been taken from him. His will, his body, his very identity, has been usurped and wiped away until the moment he opens his eyes. His body has been changed, more so than the rest of the humans inside the domed city. He begins his third life as the unstrung puppet trying to find his sister and stay away from the artificial archangel that had abducted him. By the end, Elliott will be forced to either take up the role of puppet master, or condemn a hundred million people to death.

Sarah Dawning has known loss in her life. When she lost her parents, her brother kept her from giving up. When her brother died, she anchored herself to the Holy Order of Archivists and the man she loves, Bishop Galen Rostum. Together they will learn that the city's Archangel A.I. has plans for both of them, and their love for each other will be the catalyst that ignites the terrible purpose hidden within Sarah.

When brother and sister find each other again, they will launch revolutions, unleash monsters, give rise to miracles, see the birth of magic and legend in a world of technology, and perhaps discover something about who and what they have become. That's assuming they survive, of course.

"These characters are real! They're rounded, they talk like human beings and not TV drama characters, and they've got issues. Bigger issues than I can imagine, sounds like. I'm looking forward to reading the full book."

"Just when you think a female protagonist can't possibly be more badass or have more attitude than Jessica Jones, author Rebekka Leber rolls out Max Lucas to prove you wrong. The first three excerpts take you on a ride you can't possibly see coming, and leave you hanging with questions you're dying to have answered. All of Shiva's thumbs way up!"

"It’s tricky to juxtapose different tones in any type of writing.  And Rebekka is doin’ it WELL.  This is a skillful blend of mythological dark fantasy with razor sharp contemporary wit.  The protagonist is realistically flawed, charming, and intriguing.  Rebekka crafts visceral and cinematic imagery in both modern and ancient settings.  She has a mastery of authentic, organic dialogue in both the present and the past.  You’ll be on the floor laughing at the effortless humor one minute, and in awe at the power of the gods in the next.  I’m going to enjoy watching it progress, and can’t wait until it’s finished.  Reading this is definitely worth your time.  Read it, recommend it, and show it some Inkshares love.  This one’s going to be a great ride. "This book has me giddy in all the right ways. It blends the real with the fantastical, while serving up a hefty dose of attitude. Delving into the territories of religion, mythology, alcoholism, and conspiracy is no easy task, but Leber handles them with ease. I've immensely enjoyed what I've read so far. The lead is especially a great joy to read, with her complexity and rawness, but also because of her humor! If you like strong women, complex characters, sarcasm, and grit, you're going to want this book."

Assassinating Custer

Based on the Manuscript of William D. Nugent, the conspiracy of Custer's assassination by President Grant with the help of multiple Generals.

As I investigate the story I begin to have problems. Individuals possing as FBI Agents confront me when an unidentified man from Washington tries to bring me documents related to this story. I find him murdered at the Tulsa International Airport. I am followed and my house is broke into as they try to steal from me the documents I received. I have to go into hiding for a period of time and an effort to kill two of my friends and incapacitate me for the remainder of my life takes place.

Seeking help from my friend in the CIA, I follow old clues to uncover Custer's story. The NSA saves us as a professional assasin is sent to take us out. Then we find that the Custer story is but the tip of the iceberg. Now extra-ordinary events unfold to help us get the story out and protect us from those who seek to stop us.

A much larger conspiracy surrounding President Grant is revealed. The Lakota tribe sues the federal government over this conspiracy and wins at the Supreme Court. The federal government pays retribution to the tribe. Over $1,000,000,000.00 sits in a bank account for the tribe but the tribe continues to fight in court. They want their lands back that was stolen by President Grant instead of the cash. This is an ongoing case.

The Mind Rift Saga - Book One - The Eternal: Guardian of Light

Auren desires to prove his manhood at too early an age.  Going against his mother's wishes, he finds it but suffers a critical wound.

The God of Light revives Auren, giving him powers of the shaman.

The elementals known as Devians, have conquered all the lower dimensions.  Finding Auren and desiring his magic, the King of the Devians takes his brother's form and kills Auren's family to lure him into a trap.

Fleeing into the future, Glaxus sets up traps for Auren while preparing to bring his armies to earth in preparation to conquer the higher dimensions.

Auren must kill his brother to save his brother's soul by facing Glaxus.  With no way to kill Glaxus, Auren must find a way to save his new love and save earth at the same time.

Intrepid

In the early days, four of the Paragons, the beings of the Infinite, created a race from each of the elements in the physical realm- Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. These races became the ancestors of the Pyran, Deryn, Jordan, and Soren lands. A few within the Paragons were angered that they were not chosen to create their own beings that would honor and worship them, so a Paragon named Valen Ral, the essence of Order, attempted to create beings from those already in existence. Their essences were torn in the process, creating the Banished Races- Basts, Abyssals, Nyx, and Vega- monstrous cousins to the creations of the Elemental Paragons who stalked the outer reaches of the realms.

Over thousands of years, each race developed from hunters and gatherers into a complex, industrial society. Once they began to introduce technology their dependence on the Paragons waned, and eventually they only continued to worship those Paragons whose secrets they could not unravel yet, like the Paragon of Magic.

Angered over mortal’s impudence towards the Paragons, Valen Ral leads a revolt against the mortals to punish them for forsaking their gods and instead depending on machines. But, much to his suprise, not all the Paragons support him. Many Paragons still support man, and believe that technology will never be the answer to all the mortal’s needs The Paragons that follow Valen Ral abandon the mortals, reaching out to their monstrous creations. Those who do not support Valen Ral by turning away from the mortals are cast out of the Infinite Realm in a fiery expulsion.

The story that follows is the struggle of several characters who now live in the fallout, including a capricious Imperatrix who is the progeny of the realm's most famous fairytale romance, a cursed mermaid forced to live on land for treachery against her kind, a desert born pirate who escaped to the high seas with his bound genie companion, and a street urchin con artist pulled out of prison to serve as the sentinel to the new Paragon of Magic.

Ardent's Contract

Man is bound by it. The world is fed by it.

The grand Contract pulses until the day it expires and man dies.

The Ardent of legend must decide for all.

Tyrants rule while their vassals wield gun and sword. Magic exists that gifts body and mind. Buildings sprout from nothing while men summon destructive elements. Technology is given, for a price that is not quite clear.

All is given by the contract.

Emilyn and Izhan may have shared a womb but their view of the world could not be any more different. The twin brothers have been placed onto the center stage of the city, gifted with the ability to determine its fate.

An undeveloped society gifted with the technology of the future. Vurosis is a paradise to the content, an opportunity to the ruthless and a prison to the disenfranchised. All is granted by the contract, binding agreements that citizens enter into for power and prestige within the city. There is a new revolution being born below the streets. Can an unlikely hero destroy paradise and end the contract forever?

Ardent’s Contract is a story of love, friendship and brotherhood amidst a revolution. It combines high fantasy with strong elements of science fiction. Action, magic, adventure, intrigue, and romance are all present. The culture of Vurosis is explored heavily, bringing its vivid imagery to life.

The Convent

Jess Green lives in a convent orphanage on the edge of the Disaster Zone. When the children begin to disappear, rumour is that the increasingly erratic Sister Enuncia is abandoning them in the desert for the nightbeetles to snip to pieces. But Jess will one day discover that the thing which stalks the corridors is closer to her than she could've possibly imagined, and that Enuncia is merely a puppet in an unfolding horror...

Four short stories from Jess's convent childhood.

Dark World

In 2078, sixteen-year-old Ruby R-1046 is introduced to her future mate, Connor C-2246. Over half a century after an alien invasion pilaged our oceans and messed up Earth's natural orbit, what is left of humanity has survived by living in a large underground fall-out shelter that began construction after satellites first picked up alien transmissions in 2016. The complex is governed by strict, almost sadistic laws such as once you reach age sixty, you are “put to sleep” because you are too old to be of use, and your life-mate is chosen for you via a genetic assessment for optimum breeding. No one is allowed near the surface and people are told the only living things above them in the wastelands that used to be our continents are cannibalistic monsters.

Ruby is ordered to marry Connor on her eighteenth birthday, but her heart wants someone else. She is in love with one of her best friends, Reese. On Ruby's sixteenth Birthday, Reese takes Ruby to a forbidden, sealed off passageway and introduces her to Silver, a strange and unkept young girl who has no ID chip and seems to know nothing about the complex. She tells them she is from Earth’s surface. As Ruby and Reese attempt to find out the truth about this unique stranger they slowly begin to uncover a sinister entanglement of lies, genocide and the governments willingness to destroy an entire planet in an attempt to control and “genetically improve” a whole new wave of humanity.

“Dark World” is formatted as a series of novellas, each one focusing on a particular event in the story as each event piles on top of the other to unravel the dystopian tyranny the government has managed to create underground. Although the plot itself is action-packed and designed to keep the readers on the edge of their seats, its the characters themselves that fuel the story with their passion, sense of adventure, love and dedication to one another. The main protagonist, Ruby, is the sixteen year old girl that almost every woman has been at some point. She enters this life-defining story at a pivotal place in her adolescence as she strives to make the leap from childhood to adulthood while caught in the middle of a world of lies that begins to crumble around her. As her beliefs are challenged and tested by these extraordinary events, she responds by clinging naively to love while also digging deep within herself to find her own personal signature of autonomy and bravery, a unique and solidified identity that we all search for as we face impending adulthood.
