When in Rome, Build an Aqueduct is a collection of poetry and flash fiction, sprinkled with surrealism, anthropomorphism, humor, pain, and love.

Vlad the Conqueror

Set in the majestic Carpathian Mountains, this epic features Wallachian Prince Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) as he defends Transylvania against the invading Ottoman Empire.  In the midst of the struggle, he meets the stunning Willomina, his future queen.

Ghost

Life was simple, until I kidnapped her.

Ghost. The name of a man who is known for his ability to do the impossible. Of course, a hitman of his caliber is hard to find and his skills do not come cheap. Ghost has trained himself to be cold. A necessity when eliminating his victims. Take a job, complete it, get paid. Nothing more. Do as you're told. He has been successful with every hit he was assigned. When living in this hellhole some call a town, a man finds him and asks Ghost for his services. Accepted. First target, a girl. Heiress to the White family. Easy. A simple hit. This girl, that when he puts the gun to her head, intrigues him more than she should. He hesitates. What to do? Follow orders? Or take the first step down a road that could destroy him?

Bound in Thought

There is only one rule everyone follows. Without choice or knowledge. One rule that everyone accepts to live and love by. You have a soulmate. Simple yet life-altering. You are connected in thought, with the ability to look inside each other's mind at any time. But you will only gain this ability at 21 years old, and only if you choose to activate the bond. Should you choose not to then you will live your life knowing that your soulmate is out there but you will never find them. What would you choose? Follow several people as they learn to live with the consequences of their choice.

TL;DR

TL;DR (or "Too long, didn't read") is a mostly autobiographical work with more than a hint of exaggeration, extrapolation and pure fantasy thrown in.

From railways to romance, horses for courses, mountains to molehills and the odd hiccup along the way, join our protagonist as he finally works out that being a man of few words is better than a man of many words.

TL;DR: read this book.

Taking Comfort

Leanne had Cara when she was still a teenager.  Now that her daughter is sixteen she wants her to understand.  She writes about her past in a book, but nothing is straight forward.  Who was Leanne before she had Cara?

Ask Me No Secrets

'I find it extremely insulting that you're willing to go to such lengths to avoid marrying me.'
'Well, after all,' I said carefully, 'what woman wants a husband who's always turning up at the most inconvenient moments?'

Lydia Chatton is happy with her debut. Mr Lucas Brand has been marked in his attentions and the conventional marriage she desires seems just a few months away. But things take an alarming turn when she is abducted by a man she’s only spoken to once before.

It soon becomes clear his reasons aren't love or money; some deeper plot is involved. Lydia is determined to discover his secret. But it's not as easy as it sounds.

A regency romance with a healthy dose of adventure and humour thrown in.

The Flexibilizer

A novella. Based on a true story.

I read your story holding my breath. It's beautiful. Very different. - Theo Horsten (author)

The feeling of isolation is palpable. I admire the way you employ time in the story. By not giving exact dates and jumping to unspecified periods in time creates in the reader's mind a continuum that matches the state of mind of the main character. - Bart Besamusca (linguist)

Trust Me

A small, sleepy town in Texas awakes to find a local high school girl has commited suicide.

Three weeks later, her friends still have trouble understanding. How could she have taken her own life? Her best friend, Kathy, comes to a startling revelation which causes a chain of events to unfold that no one could have expected.

Soon kids from all walks of life within the town become entangled in a confusion of mental illness, sexuality--and murder?

.... .... .... .... .... .... .... ....

This began as a series of short stories that are all interconnected but may be read standalone, but as the story developed it became apparent that they were more like chapters in the book.

Up until chapter 6 all stories are standalone, but from then on all are connected.

Female Anonymous

Humorous short stories depicting female characters.

Aspirations & Inspirations

Inspiration comes to me in many forms. I tend to be drawn to the darker side of fiction, whether I'm looking at movies, story ideas, or books. These poems have been inspired by life, by film and anything in between. I can't always explain where they come from. I just write them.
