Dark Places

WARNING: Contains violence, gore, sex, cannibalism, zombies, and much, much worse.

"Dark Places" has been called "Spoon River Anthology" meets "Masque of The Red Death".

This collection of stories covers the walled community of Windmere. Before The Event that turned the dead into shambling corpses, Windmere Estates housed the ultrarich and famous. Now twenty three families have seclude themselves from a world gone mad, but there are worse things in Windmere than the undead.

Tales of the evil that men commit against one another, an examination of the dark things hiding in the heart, oh... and zombies.

The Let Downs

The Let Downs is a series about terrible human beings who do terrible things. It is a series of counter-culture-esque short stories, flash fictions, and poems not meant for the faint of heart. If you like reading about sex, drugs, and alcohol, this is the series for you. From parents to truck drivers to teenage kids, this is a series about all of the horrors in the world, about the abhorred people who are worse than any fiction story can portray, but more importantly, these are stories about us. We are the Let Downs.

The Typist

In the vein of classics from Lovecraft and Poe comes the horror tale of Henry Pickman. A disillusioned newspaper editor down on his luck, Pickman's fate takes terrifying twist when he finds an antique typewriter with a dark secret and the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to fade.

Chrysalis and Clan

This series is the complete first part of a novel, Chrysalis and Clan, that is due to be published in March 2017.

*This series contains explicit content, and some trigger warnings. Please be aware it is not for everyone.*

There is a war festering that threatens life as we know it, but it is a war we will never see. It is cloaked beneath the skin of our loved ones, our neighbors, and the strangers on the corner. And it is all consuming.

Beth is successful, grounded, and happy. That is until a disasterous visit with her mother, Ava, who is suffering from dementia. This visit, the final visit with her mother, plants seeds of doubt in Beth's mind about who she really is or, rather, what she really is. Beth chooses to indulge her doubt and curiosity by entertaining her mother's ludicrous claims.

But there is another side to the story. A side that not only believes Ava's tales of lineage, but is hell-bent on stopping them.

Chrysalis and Clan is a tapestry of ghosts, of extraterrestrial creatures, and of demons that will make you shudder each time you see the back of your eyelids.

Which side are you rooting for?

Waite Community Announcements (from a Neighboring Dimension)

"...the lab equipment is missing. A heavy, cloying smell chokes us as we enter the room."

It's 1922 and the school year has just begun at Waite College, a women's institute just outside of Arkham, and peculiar events are happening all over campus. The sister school to the infamous Miskatonic University, Waite is no stranger to unusual stories about men going mad or missing. But for the first time evil appears to have crept into their dormitories and offices, to the horror of faculty and students alike.

Consisting of found documents including journal entries, incident reports, evaluations, official memos, and graffitied messages, Waite Community Announcements will trace the events leading up to the school's mass disappearances in 1923--which to this day historians do not quite understand.

20% of the proceeds from subscriptions will be donated to Sweet Briar College, recently saved from closure in June 2015.

Z: True Stories of a Cult Kid

“I was taught to believe that humanity was imploding on itself. Only those of us living at the compound were pure, and it was our job to make sure the rest of the world got what it deserved.”

-Ezra Grady

On June 7th, 2009, after an argument with his parents, ten-year-old Ezra Grady ran away from his home in Harmony, Maryland. After years of searching for Ezra with no leads, the Harmony police declared him dead on June 11th, 2016.

On September 1st, Ezra reappeared at his former home, alive and well.

Told through letters, essays, police interviews, and photographs, Z: True Stories of a Cult Kid chronicles the mysterious, frightening, and deadly seven years of Ezra’s life after being recruited by and eventually escaping a doomsday cult based out of Dresden, Illinois.

However, as with every story, things may not be as they seem with Ezra, the cult, and his return home.

The Last Minuters

When recent divorcee Margaret Ayinger decides to end her life, she wants to go out in style.  For those who have done their homework and for whom money is no object there is only one place for that: The Precipice Hotel.  Like a hospice for the terminally eccentric, it has stood for over a hundred years in a region plagued by yearly forest fires.  Upon arrival, Margaret finds the old place nothing like what was advertised.

Oh sure, the staff are friendly.  And the food?  Positively four star!  Something about it though just doesn't sit well with her.  For instance, the people who randomly swan dive from their balconies late at night, the impossible thing living in her bedroom, and the automatons in black body stockings roaming the halls.  Oh, and the purple monster named Fred who lives in the gorge.

Lot 149

“It’s just a light flickering, must be faulty wiring or something – isn’t it?”

Lot 149 is a paranormal story about Keira, a recently divorced woman who purchases a decaying old farmhouse with a truly spectacular history. Country living, a tidy divorce settlement and a job promotion that allowed telecommuting – this farmhouse would be a fresh start for both Keira and her son Tad, a break they so badly needed.

"Sure it needs work -- but don't we all?"

Leaving a big city job behind, Kiera embraces country living and is intent on raising pasture-fed pork and free-range chickens and the latest developments in organic farming; however, she soon realizes how much work is involved in restoring the farmhouse. To help with repairs, she calls in Frank, a local handyman and pest control guy.

“It’s a house with a history, that’s all. Plays tricks with your mind. Most old houses are like that.”

As Keira and Frank work on the house, several unnerving things begin to happen, and the secrets of the house begin to revel themselves. One of the locals, Joe Adams, fills Keira in on the previous owners:

They had two boys, long time ago, one of them had fits or somethin’.

Ain’t nobody seen that boy for decades. Most of us though they put him away –

He had a thing for cattle – bit of a freak, strange things always happened when he was around.

Ol’ Johnston down the way said he did in his whole herd, but nobody could prove nothing. And then there was the Smith child –

Now, decades later, Keira is the full owner in possession of the old farmhouse on Lot 149.

New Orleans Supernatural Weekly

Following a series of unfathomable attacks, journalist Sayeva Reardon decides to publish a (bi)weekly news magazine revealing the true nature of New Orleans' less mundane community. She regularly reports on stories ranging from the best to the worst in the city's supernatural underground, covering every creature and species without prejudice. But not everyone appreciates Sayeva's efforts in bringing what had so long been hidden from human eyes to light, and she soon finds herself fighting and running from danger at every angle.

Hellbound

"I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.” -Ezekiel 25:17

Little does anyone know, the end of the world is about to begin in a small town in southern Indiana, and a sarcastic diner-owner named John may be the world’s only hope to keep from being sucked into Hell…

After a large sinkhole devours Ezekiel, Indiana’s historic gazebo in the middle of the night, John awakens to discover that nearly all the citizens of his small town have begun acting out their most prominent of the seven deadly sins, while those not affected have packed up and abandoned the town with little to no notice at all. Over the next few days, John and his best friend navigate their way through people they once knew acting in unimaginable ways, a group of Bible-thumping citizens convinced the sinners of Ezekiel must pay the ultimate price, and a TV evangelist offering his expertise as a way to cleanse the town of evil… for a price, all while realizing John may be the only person on the planet with the ability to stop the town, and eventually the rest of the world, from going straight to Hell.

The events of HELLBOUND continue in part 2, HELLION:

The end was just the beginning...

It's been six months since a diner-owner from Indiana sacrificed himself to stop the entire world from being sucked into Hell, and things have changed drastically. Faith has been rediscovered, bringing with it mandatory church-attendance laws and dangerously hypocritical hate groups hell-bent on converting everyone to a new form of Christianity referred to by some as “Jesuslam”

But Jude Vale thinks it's all a load of crap.

Having been sent away to a prestigious Christian boarding school in Washington, Jude has made it his life's goal to defy any and all religious laws put in place since "The Ezekiel Incident," to the point of being placed on a watch list by the nation's most notorious religious group, MoOS. It isn't long before Jude finds himself segregated from his peers and questioning his own sanity when everything he says begins to come true and those around him (friend and foe alike) begin dying in inexplicable accidents.

And when a new student with a dark secret appears on St. Dunstan's campus, Jude begins begins to realize he may be the antichrist--the one human destined to bring forth the end times and put the world at risk of apocalyptic destruction... again.

I Was a Teenage Ghost Hunter

Moody sixteen-year-old barista Devin Mulwray is doing his best to ignore bizarre manifestations at his job in the chilly Northern California town of Arcata. Already teased about his recurrent ‘phase-outs’, the last thing he needs is to get pegged as a guy who sees ghosts. It doesn’t help his state of mind that his boss is a sarcastic slacker, his single dad is always on the road with clients and local occult fan girl Nayra is spreading ‘ghost boy’ rumors about him online.

But when violent paranormal activity badly spooks teens at an abandoned estate, Devin’s pushed into investigating by his eccentric friends Clive, a budding composer, and Rex, a tech head excited by ghost hunting gadgetry. At first reluctant to get involved, Devin’s encouraged when Emily, one of the more empathetic girls at Grey Bluff High, is impressed with his daring.

Together the friends explore the creepy Rousten manor. But as the only person able to perceive the manifestations, Devin soon finds himself going one-on-one against a powerful spirit who attacks the locals and infiltrates Devin’s own dreams.

Devin must face his fear of confronting the spirit world and get to the bottom of the hauntings before the specter unleashes more havoc on him and his friends.
